Branch Pick Up Resumes
PLEASE READ TO UNDERSTAND THIS SERVICE
The Village of Cullom will resume seasonal branch pick up services to residents. Branch pick up will begin Friday, April 14, 2023 and end on October 13, 2023. Pick up will continue to be on Fridays (weather permitting), branches are to be placed out prior to 6:00 A.M. on Fridays. Leaves will be picked up through November 17, 2023.
This service is intended to assist residents in maintaining their yards when small branches fall or trimming shrubs or bushes. No large tree limbs or removal of entire overgrown shrubs or bushes will be picked up. This service is not for removal of entire trees, sections of trees, or entire large bushes.
The requirements for Branch Pick Up are as follows:
Branches are to be stacked in one direction with thicker ends facing the street. DO NOT cross stack branches.
Branches are to be no longer than 8 feet in length or 6 inches in diameter. Piles are to be no higher than 3 feet and no longer than 8 feet along road (this is the maximum size of pile that will be picked up and only one pile per week). Smaller branches (one inch or less) should be stacked and tied with string or twine or placed in small bucket for dumping. All grass clippings, leaves, corn husks, evergreen clippings and small twigs or trimmings must be placed in heavy duty bags (33 gallon or smaller). No items placed in large garbage cans will be picked up.
No root balls, lumber, potted plants in plastic containers, vines or any other material or piles including rocks and dirt that will not easily burn will be picked up.
Walnuts must be placed in containers (five gallons or less). Walnuts placed in garbage containers larger than five gallons will not be picked up. Garden waste including vegetables, tomatoes, cucumbers, melons, etc. will not be picked up. Place them in a bag and dispose of them in your weekly waste pickup.
The Village’s Branch Pick Up program is truly a service to Cullom residents. It encourages each resident and building owner to pride themselves in the health, aesthetics and value of their own home, building, surrounding yard and landscape. It promotes the community’s desire to beautify our neighborhoods while maintaining safe and healthy surroundings.
Branches, leaves and other yard waste generated by a private contractor, or individuals hired by a resident or property owners do not qualify for the Village’s Branch Pickup Program. Branches, leaves, and other yard waste of this type must be properly disposed of by said private contractor, or other private service and disposed of in their dumpsite.
The Village of Cullom reserves the right to refuse any pick up of items in violation of the intent of this community service.
